A Modern Castle: The Rebirth Of The Canadian Museum of Nature
- Client: The Canadian Museum of Nature
- Type: Corporate documentary
The museum already had 20+ hours of amateur and professionally shot footage filmed over 5 years documenting the start of their $250 000 000 rebuild. But as they neared the end of the construction process, they realized they had a pile of tapes and no story. They needed a production company to direct filming on the final year’s construction and devise creative script to tell the story in English and French, and in 2 project lengths.
The 20 minute version played for six months in the museum’s HD theatre to help celebrate the site’s 100th anniversary and has been popularly selling at the museum’s gift shop since 2010. The one hour long version has been broadcast on the Discovery HD channel.
“Picture This won a national bid to produce a documentary about our Museum’s history and renovation project. From their first proposal, we could see that they are master storytellers. They took what could have been a standard corporate video and put a unique spin on it. They lived up to all their promises and demonstrated that they care very much about the end product and making sure it meets the client’s needs. They were a pleasure to work with!”
